Under SEBI’s advice AMFI has initiated some changes in the Distributor
Registration process.
As a part of this change Know Your Distributor (KYD), similar to Know Your
Client (KYC) for investors has been introduced as a part of the Distributor
Registration process which involves obtaining relevant documents and validation
of such documents, personal verification and bio-metrics.
KYD is mandatory with effect from September 1, 2010.
Currently there are 60 locations (CAMS Point of Service) where distributors can carry
out KYD process as well as biometrics on an ongoing basis. To make it convenient for the
distributors located at the places other than the said 60 locations, CAMS will now be
facilitating KYD process and biometrics at different locations at specified dates.
